Konstantin Shekita: Sandblasted Dublin with Horn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-600-0050
Garnering a career spanning over 30 years, Ukrainian artisan Konstantin Shekita first began his journey at the Golden Gate pipe factory in Kiev. He started by polishing mouthpieces but would soon prove himself as a carver, fashioning pipes of the factory's design. Shekita would also begin carving his own pipes in his spare time, honing his craftsmanship and developing his unique style. His portfolio is defined by eclecticism, with his portfolio featuring both highly stylized, sculptural pieces and traditionally-inclined renditions.
This Dublin by Konstantin Shekita showcases the traditional side of Ukrainian carver's shaping style. A tall bowl is posed at the fore of the composition with a slight forward cant, formed by thick walls flaring from the firm heel and reaching high toward the subtly rounded rim, housing a respectably deep chamber within. Transitioning from the bowl is an arrow-straight shank, adorned with an accent of genuine horn at the shank as it meets a sleek, abbreviated stem of jet-black vulcanite with a trim expansion ring at its base. The stummel wears a crisp sandblast, revealing undulating growth rings wrapping around the bowl, beneath a warm, hickory-hued stain, save for the rim, which is left smooth for contrast.
