Lomma: Sandblasted Bent Brandy

Product Number: 002-596-0159

There's no mistaking this piece as the work of Lars Jonsson of Lomma pipes. It's a similar iteration of bent Brandy as others we've seen from the Swedish carver, and it incorporates several of his conventional design cues. Firstly, this piece leans heavily into the Danish design tradition, noticeable in the sweeping heel, the cheeking about the lower bowl, and the subtle flare of the shank end. Second, the underside of the shank extends into the heel, protruding slightly from below and contributing further to the transition's cheeking — it's an oft-seen stylistic motif in Jonsson's work and one that makes for a striking, keel-like aesthetic yet without interrupting the lines of the overall profile. Here, Lars has kept the finish natural and free of frivolity, allowing the sandblasted grain to speak for itself and darken handsomely with time and use.
