Martelo: Sandblasted Jatoba with Bamboo and Rosewood Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-694-0036
Alluding to the hard fruit pods of the courbaril tree, native to Central and South America, this Jatoba from Gustavo Cunha of Martelo is an organically dynamic one, to be sure. Three knuckles of honey-blonde bamboo guide the eye to the poised, upward-thrust, pod-like bowl, offering a generous chamber depth within, and adorned with a concentric showcase of ring-grain all around. There's something of a Danish Modern style to the piece as a whole, too, and the rosewood accent beads adorning the shank make for a sweet juxtaposition. Gorgeous work.
