marTelo: Sandblasted Paneled Canadian Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-694-0051
As vertically compressed as this piece may be at less than an inch-and-a-half of height, it compensates with a lengthy shank for a remarkable rendition of the Canadian. That shank contributes to a length of more than six-and-a-half inches, and offers a rectangular cross section, wider than it is tall, but with subtlety. And all of it (except stem) is gnarly and rugged with deep sandblasting in a light contrast stain. Gustavo's signature style includes an affection for pencil-shanked offerings, especially Billiards, but Canadians are rare, and among them, squared shanks even rarer. But Gustavo maintains the reduced proportions of shank that fit his portfolio so well. As you may presume, this structured design sits sturdily on its own, if the owner is able to put it down at all. It tends to adhere to the hand; I was unable to put it down for 20 minutes and cried bitter tears when a committee of strong men removed it from my acquisitive, greedy grip.
