Martelo: Sandblasted Oval Shank Billiard Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-694-0052

An irresistibly deep blast of the wide growth rings in this stummel provide remarkable texture in such a relatively diminutive piece. The oval shank of this Billiard from Gustavo Cunha of Martelo helps commend the bowl as its own element, thought the color palette unifies the composition with its engrossing contrast stain. The mouthpiece is vulcanite and of a subtle, muted blue/gray, maintaining traditional conservatism while imbuing it with a touch of modernism and color. Svelte of shank and stem, this Billiard is small and light enough to clench, but large enough for a respectable smoking session, and beautiful enough to be in a museum. Cunha learned his craft from none other than Tom Eltang, and received additional instruction from such luminaries as Chris Asteriou, Konstantinos Anastasopoulos and Eder Mathias, but his background in furniture design and his own creative sensibilities have led him to a distinct style and an execution of demanding shaping that continue to impress all who experience his work.
