marTelo: Smooth Prince with Mammoth Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-694-0058

The Prince shape was developed by Loewe & Company in London to honor Edward Prince of Wales, later known as Edward VIII, who was said to have a sophisticated sense of style. The shape generally has a slight bend in the stem, this Prince rendition by Gustavo Cunha of Martelo displaying that bend with elegant understatement as the tapered stem advances for a particularly lengthy pipe of 6.4 inches.

Vertically compressed in Tomato style, the Prince bowl presses its visual weight into the heel, which is broad and relatively substantial, especially in comparison to the long and slender shank-and-stem arrangement. A wide accent of mammoth offers creamy contrast of color between the stummel and the stem, while the slight forward cant contributes to the parabolic curve of the piece in profile. And the grain is something to be enjoyed as well, its tendrils rising vertically around the rounded bowl in a traditional contrast stain and exemplary finishing for a pipe absolutely packed with elegance and classicism.
