Michail Kyriazanos: Sandblasted Long Shank Acorn with Boxwood
Product Number: 002-629-0096
Michail Kyriazanos definitely has a special talent for fashioning the classics, and it's no secret that we're fond of them. And though his compact shape-chart standards are always brilliantly executed and replete with a style all their own, it's his Danish-inspired shapes, and specifically this Peewit-esque Acorn rendition, that really resonate with me. We've seen quite a few of them, from lithe, bamboo-shanked iterations packed with whimsy to more muscular, substantial pieces like this Long Shank Acorn. Despite its prodigious length, Michail made excellent use of this block, coaxing deep rings which concentrically climb up the bowl to meet blasted birdseye all around the softened rim. At the other end of things, Michail lent it a wafer of pale boxwood, complementing the terra cotta colored sandblast with absolute aplomb. Splendid work.- Daniel Bumgardner
