Michail Kyriazanos: Smooth Blowfish with Boxwood
Product Number: 002-629-0107
A Blowfish with geometrical aspects to its design, this pipe from Michail Kyriazanos adds its own design aspects to a shape that has proven infinitely variable. The asymmetrical shank is the most obvious area of creativity, with five sides, each separated by crisp lines and terminated at the end with a boxwood fitment. With this paneled disposition, the shank joins the bowl at the transition, but the stummel maintains some of the geometry with more crisp lines demarcating the three main surfaces of the bowl, which are again asymmetrical. Each surface takes full advantage of the grain, as Blowfish tend to do. Easy to hold, with thumb or forefinger naturally draping over the shank or near side of the bowl, it's a smaller pipe, but the full potential of the Blowfish is well rendered even on this moderately sized palette. The right side features a smattering of plateau for added texture and visual interest. No angle is uninteresting, and remarkable design decisions are evident no matter how you hold it.- Chuck Stanion
