Michail Kyriazanos: Smooth Montreal Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-629-0110
Classic renditions of the bent Bulldog tend toward two iterations: those that feature a squat bowl on the end of a stout shank and those of the taller, more slender variety. Here, Michail Kyriazanos has merged the two to create this beautiful "Montreal." The diamond shank and stem combination flare considerably, albeit gradually, from bit to transition, lending the piece a robust profile. Such a form would traditionally terminate in a broad, low-set bowl, but the Greek carver has instead poised a tall and trim Bulldog bowl at the end, with the conventional beadlines cutting the bowl in half as it tapers slightly above and below. The merging of these two styles makes for a piece that's one part muscular and the other part regal, blending hearty proportions with an elegant form and sweeping lines. It's made all the more handsome thanks to a smooth, chestnut stain and matching cumberland stem for a warm, inviting palette.
