Michail Kyriazanos: Sandblasted Billiard with Silver
Product Number: 002-629-0137
Michail Kyriazanos' appreciation for traditional forms is evident throughout his portfolio and he has become renowned for his interpretations of classic French and English shape chart standards. The Greek carver's work is practically irresistible for anyone who is drawn to artisan renditions of time honored shapes. This classically inclined Billiard is especially appealing, featuring spot-on proportions and finished in a texturally engaging sandblast that calls to mind the style associated with vintage, Patent-era Dunhills, with fascinating patterns of undulating grain trickling down the bowl's flanks.
Perhaps most striking about this offering is the stellar silverwork that adorns the stem base as well as the shank-end, showcasing Michail's skill with the precious metal. The two-part accent is beautifully executed and incredibly intricate, its scalloped shaping resembling a crown on both ends. It's the perfect complement for this design, which Kyriazanos based on a design he encountered in an old Barling catalog. Just a gorgeous and exciting take on one of pipe making's most beloved shapes.- Jeffery Sitts
