Michail Kyriazanos: Smooth Strawberry Tobacco Pipe

Greek artisan Michail Kyriazanos has a deep appreciation for traditional forms, and he often takes inspiration from classic Anglo-French standards, which he believes represent the pinnacle of functionality and aesthetic perfection. That being said, Kyriazanos isn't afraid to embrace the more organic and stylized design sensibility of Japanese and Danish pipe making, as evidenced by this Strawberry.

A unique design with an eye-catching silhouette, this Strawberry features a plump, full-bodied that flares from its pointed, spur-like heel to its wide rim. A high-set waistline lends further emphasis to the bowl's dramatic flare, as does the rim's raised fore and aft sides. Mirroring the bowl, the shank flares outward before giving way to a crown of rugged plateau and a demurely curved saddle stem, the latter of which promotes a comfortable smoking posture. The shank end's plateau echoes the rim's kiss of plateau, fostering a visual and tactile symmetry across either end of the stummel. An auburn smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights stellar flame grain and birdseye across the briar's surface.
