Missouri Meerschaum: Cornell & Diehl Durham Don Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-543-0132
For years, Missouri Meerschaum has collaborated with American blending house Cornell & Diehl to create special corn cob tobacco pipes elevated by distinctive designs and high-quality acrylic stems. Moreover, they honor C&D's Carolina roots and the Carolina region's deep tobacco history. Released in 2024, the Durham Don pays homage to Durham, North Carolina's historic tobacco tradition with a design inspired by a timeless Dunhill shape.
Durham's connection to tobacco dates to the 19th century when Washington Duke established W. Duke and Sons in 1865, manufacturing Pro Bono Publico pipe tobacco. Washington's son, J.B. "Buck" Duke, would go on to found American Tobacco Co. — among the largest companies of that era and one that included such iconic brands as Bull Durham and Lucky Strike. Today, the factories and warehouses of American Tobacco remain a staple and identity marker of downtown Durham. As a pipe design, the Missouri Meerschaum Durham Don features a canted Poker bowl on the end of a short shank and elongated stem, calling to mind Dunhill's Don shape. A metal accent adds a refined touch between the black shank and stem, and the entire design sits sturdily upright.
Note: While all of our other pipes are photographed individually, these are not, and you may expect some reasonable cosmetic variation between the example we've photographed and the pipe you've received.
