Nate King: Sandblasted Freehand with Boxwood
Product Number: 002-579-0001
While Nate King's most conspicuous creations may be his steampunk designs, he does also dabble in making some fine pipes of more familiar and established style as well. In the case of this finely-sandblasted number, there appears to be a mix of both Danish and Italian freehand shaping at play, with the design displaying both supple fluidity of the of former, and the more solid handling of forms of the latter. I wouldn't imagine it's easy to shape something that's equal parts Savinelli Autograph and Ivarsson, but I have to say he has done a great job of getting the supple, flowing lines and stout-walled, paneled bowl to come together in an easy and natural manner.
