Nate King: Sandblasted Brandy
Product Number: 002-579-0032
There's quite a lot going on shaping-wise in this sandblasted Brandy from Nate King. With its extra-broad base, if the waist were any lower, it could likely pass as a Volcano. Its wide back taper at the transition is matched by a gentle curve and delicate cant to the front of the bowl for a sleek, flowing profile. In turn, its broad, oval shank rises gracefully up from the heel before flattening out on a near parallel plane along the stem. Due to a flatted portion just under the heel, it'll sit like a charm neither fully upright nor reclining fully against the stem. The result is quite the dynamic aesthetic that we would expect from a carver with a history in high-octane, powerful auto and aerospace designs. Fittingly, Nate chose to finish this briar in a warm sandblast with wave after wave of undulating ring grain.
