Nate King: Sandblasted Billiard (423)

Product Number: 002-579-0096

Long and lean, with a disposition making it appear to have stepped out of the early part of the last century, but with engineering and craftsmanship of the highest modern standards, this Billiard from Nate King is unbelievably light, with most of the weight on the stem side of the pipe. The subdued green-and-black swirled mouthpiece offers a natural palette, as though fashioned from some limber piece of desert brush, and bent with the subtlest of downturns. Orientation of the grain is as natural and unpredictable as one would find in the wild. The transition from bowl to shank is well defined and maintains the curvature of the bowl, a detail that I especially appreciate. Somehow, it looks to me like a pipe that Robin Hood would extract from his pouch before blowing smoke into the face of the Sheriff of Notingham.
