Nording: Smooth Freehand with Silver (12)
Product Number: 002-508-9337
While this Erik Nording piece resembles an Acorn when viewed from either side in profile, it's actually a cleverly crafted Freehand design from the Danish carver. Each flank features a ridgeline that emanates from the softly tapered rim, traveling down the bowl's sides and wrapping around the underside, creating a square panel along the fore. The impressive line work creates two distinct heel spurs along the base and showcase Erik's penchant for playfully intriguing shaping cues. The stummel's warm walnut stain highlights a lively array of grain and allows the vibrant yellow acrylic mouthpiece to stand out in bright contrast. A sterling silver band adorns the stem base and adds a further dose of flash to the overall composition.- Jeffery Sitts
