Nording: Orange Grain Freehand (2) Tobacco Pipe

A rather low-lying bowl characterizes this organic piece from Erik Nording, a bit of a departure size-wise from his typical towering Fancy Freehands. Slightly more reserved, yet displaying the fluting ridges and channels often seen in his work, the Apple-like bowl boasts an asymmetrical rim crowned in plateau, which is also seen on the shank end. It's wearing the carver's vibrant, smooth stain of the Orange Grain finish, elevating the briar's natural grain.
