Nørding: Brown Matte Zulu (2) Tobacco Pipe

This Zulu from Danish carver Erik Nording is quite different from his more recognizable Fancy Freehand work, though it still maintains a sense of Danish neoclassical style about it that fans of Nording's pipes will appreciate. A demurely curved stem with a plump expansion ring at the base marries to a very slightly flaring shank that takes on a slight upward lift. Up front, the bowl sits atop a rounded heel and flares out to a plateau-crowned rim as it rises upward, offering a pleasant feel in hand and a dynamic forward urge. Dressed in the warm hues of the Brown Matte series, the stummel here reveals handsome striations of grain through the flanks.
