As one of the leading pioneers of the Danish Fancy Freehand style, Erik Nørding has built a reputation on fashioning unique, highly stylized designs, replete with firm ridges, fluting channels, and organic flourishes. That being said, the Danish carver also produces more conventional shapes, albeit ones that are elevated by his singular design sense and finishing work. The Giant series, then, offers the Danish carver's more conservative designs in palm-filling proportions, with this bent Billiard beautifully representing the line's bold aesthetics. Dressed in a partial rustication and accented with a gleaming metallic band, this piece offers a wealth of visual and tactile detail to complement its hearty dimensions.
