Erik Nørding's Erik the Red series offers classically shaped, workhorse pipes that deviate from the Danish carver's typical organic Freehand style, all at an accessible price. A rather compact piece, this Bulldog from Nørding is a snug, portable shape that still retains the form's characteristic muscularity. A subtle ridgeline demarcates the gently tapered rim from the rest of the bowl's downward taper to the firm heel, while a stocky diamond shank extends from the low-slung, tight-knit transition. The stummel wears a light, natural finish that accentuates the briar's handsome grain, with the jet-black color of the vulcanite mouthpiece perfectly complementing the stain's hues.
