Nørding: Point Clear Freehand (C) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-508-20163

Erik Nørding is one of Denmark's most prolific, well-established carvers, entering the pipe world in the late 1950s and making a name for himself with the advent of the Fancy Freehand movement. These Freehands make up the bulk of Nørding's work, each one initially shaped on a fraising machine before being hand-carved to add rich detail and flourish to the stummel. This Freehand piece is part of the carver's Point Clear series, one which comprises a unique set of features: a domed, cap-like rim finished smooth to match the smooth shank, and a pine cone-like rustication across the rest of the stummel. The rustication is slightly darker and is full of texture that's sure to keep things interesting in the hand, its craggy surface matching a kiss of plateau across the rim.
