Ping Zhan: Partially Rusticated Reverse Calabash Apple with Boxwood Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-654-0019
This is a very compact style of reverse-Calabash that we've seen from Ping Zhan a few times before, notable for three things: its chubby style of proportions, its organic play of texture and form, and that it is indeed quite compact engineering-wise, with a decent amount of tobacco chamber and even more condensation chamber nestled within a very short stummel.
The basic design covered, in this specific case we actually find the slimmest-looking example we've received from Ping to date. Overall the measurements are much the same (except for chamber depth, as in this one he managed to fit even more of that than before), but we do see a change in the way he handled the lines of the upper shank, rear bowl, and forward face to give this one a leaner, less rotund look. While the others were certainly charming, this one is more energetically so.
