Rattray's: Emblem Brown (157) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-599-3501
Something of a hybrid between Billiard and Belge, Rattray's "157" shapes bear a slightly tapered, Billiard-like bowl that's canted forward like that of a Belge. It's not as dramatically canted as, say, the Scottish marque's "121" Devil Anse, but the defined, forward-urging posture adds dynamism to the bowl that's balanced by the sleek lines of the shank-and-stem combination — the proportions of the shank slightly more robust to accommodate a 9mm filter.
The defining feature of Rattray's Emblem pipes is their scalloped, metal accent, offering vibrant flash and a sleek, angular aesthetic in profile. Designed over 25 years ago, these special accoutrements were crafted to resemble cigar bands, replete with Rattray's triskel logo along the top. After being discontinued for a number of years, Emblem pipes returned in 2021 all in smooth finishes, with this particular example wearing a deep, mahogany stain for alluring grain definition.
