Rattray's: Monarch Sandblasted (178) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-599-5042
Rattray's "178" shape is a muscular Rhodesian with a sweeping silhouette. It features a tall, playfully canted bowl that stands proudly at the fore of a sinuously bent shank-and-stem arrangement. The deep bend of the shank and stem encourages a comfortable smoking posture and subtly offsets the bowl's brawny build and stoic posture. It's also a delightful pipe in hand, with plenty of space above the transition to drape a digit and more than enough stoutness around the bowl to grip.
Rattray's Monarch series commemorates the royal houses of Scotland, from the first King of Alba, Kenneth I, to Queen Anne of the Royal House of Stewart. The series is presented in three distinct finishes across a variety of shapes. Each pipe in the series is fitted with an eye-catching amber-hued acrylic stem and regal metallic accents at the shank end and stem base, evoking the look of a spigot mount but with a standard mortise-and-tenon arrangement and giving each piece a refined air in fitting tribute to its namesake. Like many Rattray's pipes, these are drilled to accommodate a 9mm filter.--Davin Hylton
