Defined by a single design, Rattray's The Watchtower series comprises a straight Billiard shape accented with an elegant metal band. A firmer, more rigid style of straight Billiard from Rattray's, the "127" is a stout, muscular iteration of the staple design that combines a number of interesting features. The shank and stem combination is one of the most striking elements of this piece, presenting as a flattened ovoid that's additionally been surrounded by a series of ridgelines that lend it a crisp diamond shape. Extended just a touch through the shank and offering a Lumberman-like look, this combination balances a Brandy-like bowl at its end, its firm, jutting heel informing the walls' taper to a flattened rim, its appreciable height lending the composition a robust feeling in hand. It's here presented in a dark sandblast, drawing handsome contrast against the accent band for a formal, classy aesthetic.
