Rattray's: Sanctuary Olivewood Brushed (161) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-599-6968

Rattray's "161," "162," and "163" shapes are all exclusive to the Scottish marque's Mary series, defined by trim, lightweight shapes fitted to sleek, slightly elongated stems for a slender, streamlined nature that's perfect for quick, on-the-go smoking sessions. The "161" is a bent Rhodesian; however, outside of the Mary line, the "161" is a standard, straight Rhodesian, forgoing the svelte proportions of the Mary series for a more robust aesthetic that suits Rattray's typical style.

For many, pipe smoking is a refuge of sorts, a retreat away from life's busyness and a safe haven that encourages peacefulness, contemplation, and relaxation. Rattray's Sanctuary series honors this aspect with a line of pipes accented by metal fitments along the shank end and stem base — the former etched with Rattray's ancient triskelion logo. While such accoutrements mirror the aesthetic of a spigot mount, this Sanctuary pipe still maintains a standard mortise and tenon arrangement, drilled to accommodate a 9mm filter. Moreover, the line offers pieces fashioned from briar or from olivewood, with the latter offered here: It displays the material's unique and alluring grain patterns in a brushed finish for subtle texture.
