Ropp: Vintage Smooth Bent Billiard Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-598-8089
Compact proportions may initially define this Ropp bent Billiard, but its traditional styling is what will provide lasting appeal. The heel is somewhat elongated along the axis of the shank, resulting in a longer and more gradual transition and a more visually separate angle for the rising shank. The bowl is classically Billiard in disposition, appropriate for accompanying the genuine horn mouthpiece. Bending horn is no easy or instantaneous task, so Ropp utilized a vintage stem-bending machine, borrowed directly from the Chapuis-Comoy museum. It still works, as you can see, and quite well, taking full advantage of the natural material and its unique coloring and texture for a presentation of classic pipe making in the modern world.
Sourced from old stummels found at the Chapuis-Comoy factory, Ropp's Vintage line presents old-school, classic designs that were turned decades ago but never finished. This piece is dressed in a light chestnut stain and fitted with a stem of genuine horn, hearkening back to the style of mouthpieces from the early 1900s. It accentuates the vintage motif, making for a thoroughly retro aesthetic.
