Ropp: Algerian Superior Opera Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-598-12165
The Opera shape is a classic design intended for ideal pocket carry, made popular when enjoying a pipe at the opera was a more commonplace tradition. Its bowl's compressed, oval shape offers a more demure and unassuming profile when slipped into a jacket pocket, maintaining the clean lines of a tailored suit. Such a traditional shape fits in well to Ropp's portfolio of vintage standards, and it's presented here in petite form with a sleek and streamlined shank-and-stem combination.
Like the Vintage line, Ropp's Algerian Superior series boasts stummels that were found at the Chapuis-Comoy factory. Turned decades ago but never finished, they showcase old-school shaping and a traditional, chestnut stain fitted to an ebonite stem for a classic appeal. Unlike Ropp's Vintage pipes, Algerian Superior pieces are presented only in a smooth finish, having been sourced from select-quality Algerian briar that's free of fills, similar to the Vintage Superior series, which pairs smooth-finished, fill-free stummels to horn stems.
