Ropp's "639P" shape is a unique interpretation of the classic Bulldog: It retains the form's iconic profile and diamond shank but extends the shank's panels into the bowl, reinforcing the composition's structural motif and creating an entirely paneled theme that delights with crisp edges and sleek facets. While the bowl features the Bulldog's distinctive tapers above and below, the "639P" forgoes the Bulldog's typical beadlines in favor of emphasizing the vertical ridges and offers a slight roundness — like that of an Acorn — to subtly contrast the hard edges against a touch of softness.

Sourced from old stummels found at the Chapuis-Comoy factory, Ropp's Vintage line presents old-school, classic designs that were turned decades ago but never finished. This Superior piece is commended further, having been fashioned from select-quality, fill-free briar and is here dressed in a smooth, auburn stain.
