Ropp: Vintage Sandblasted (421) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-598-15624
Ropp's "421" Bulldog is a sibling to the French marque's "420" rendition, only with a longer stem for a sleeker, more streamlined profile. Like the "420," it's one of ropp's quintessential straight Bulldog offerings, personifying the classic design's characteristic diamond shank, beadlined bowl, and tapered rim to make the "421" an archetypal rendition of the Anglo-French shape-chart standard. Even among traditional iterations of the form, the bowl dimensions can differ, and in this piece, Ropp has opted for a squat version to accentuate the design's muscular appeal — yet all in a considerably slender and elegant design overall.
Sourced from old stummels found at the Chapuis-Comoy factory, Ropp's Vintage line presents old-school, classic designs that were turned decades ago but never finished. This piece is dressed in a dark-stained sandblast and fitted with a stem of genuine horn, hearkening back to the style of mouthpieces from the early 1900s. It accentuates the vintage motif, making for a thoroughly retro aesthetic.
