S. Bang: Smooth Bent Egg with Boxwood (PH) (1838)
Product Number: 002-816-0010
Forward-ebbing, with an easy forward cant and upward-kicking line to its shank, this bent Egg is an elegant piece that strikes a balance between shape, grain, and accents. From the long streaks of flame grain on the bowl and shank, to the subtle, supple line of the transition, and angled shank accent of natural, pale boxwood, this is splendid work from Per Hansen of S. Bang — which shows a keen eye for fluidity and flow. A sea of birdseye is packed onto the underside of the piece, as well as hinted at on the crisp line of the rim, a detail noteworthy as it shows that even in the areas paid the least attention, no speck has been overlooked. Splendid work.- Rachel DuBose
