S. Bang: Smooth Bent Egg (UN) (1878)
Product Number: 002-816-0016
Though fashioned sans any sort of crisp panel, line, or ridge, this plump-bodied, eager bent Egg shape from Ulf Noltensmeier of S. Bang maintains a certain Cobra-like sense of gesture in profile. If it's a serpent, however, it's one that's in the midst of engorging itself with a large chicken egg, throwing its head back to fully down the thing whole, shell and all. Indeed, this full-bodied number isn't lacking for active gesture, and the balance of forward-reaching bowl, lightly rearward-flicking shank, and delicately downturned saddle bit is very much a presentation I'd expect to see from S. Bang. Finished in a warm, vibrant contrast, ultra-tight lanes of cross-grain at the left and right flanks give way to a vast sea of birdseye underneath.- Daniel Bumgardner
