Scott Thile: Partially Sandblasted Bent Apple with Celluloid (FH) (317)

Product Number: 002-615-0023

We've seen a few of these dual-finished Apple/Egg shapes from Scott previously, and I have to admit they are quite charming — an aesthetic created by either sandblasting the bowl and leaving the shank smooth, or vice versa. Either way, it makes for a contrast quite unlike any other. This particular one takes the form of a plump Apple, low-set against the abrupt, upward sweeping, architectural transition. The bowl, in this case, happens to be sandblasted black and covered in rings; the shank is left smooth with tight licks of flame jumping up along its length, which is pinched and paneled — making for a trim rectangle of sorts that accentuates the superb roundness of the bowl.
