Scott Thile: Sandblasted Volcano with Black and White Ebony (FH) (382) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-615-0044
When rendered with bamboo or briar shanks, a recognizable theme of Scott Thile's Volcanoes is a long, drawn-out sweep of line from bit through to heel. This one is no exception when it comes to that, though along the way of following said sweep with the eye you may get caught up by the quite unusual thing he did with the stem. It's a composite piece; a bit of black vulcanite, a base of black and white ebony, the two meeting seamlessly. I should also note that this is the first Volcano we've received from Scott with a sandblasted finish, and that he really chose the briar well, with a long, sweeping pattern of ring grain that plays right along with his approach to the Volcano design.
