Scott Thile: Smooth Cherrywood (FH) (484) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-615-0078

As a former professional musician and piano tuner, Scott Thile incorporates his tonal expertise into each of his pipes, creating unique pieces distinguished by their fine engineering and design. This Cherrywood is a fine example of the American artisan's style. The bowl is fashioned in Thile's signature Freehand-inspired design, with a broad, flowing rim crowned with craggy plateau; slim, flaring walls; and a flat heel. A voluptuous round shank brings up the rear with twin ridgelines that run along its bottom and into the hand-cut vulcanite saddle stem, bent for easy clenching. Dressed in a rich walnut stain, the stummel boasts excellent flame grain all around the bowl, with swirling birdseye at the heel and smooth inner rim offering a handsome contrast.
