Scott Thile: Sandblasted Stack with Ivorite (496) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-615-0087
In addition to being an accomplished musician and a piano tuner, Scott Thile is also a talented pipe maker, and a self-taught one at that. Thile has had a deep love and admiration for pipes since the age of 16, when he bought his very first piece. His admiration for pipes is evident in each of his designs. This Stack showcases Thile's distinctive style, which, according to him, is inspired by "The Danish neoclassics as interpreted by the North American greats."
This Stack features a towering bowl that tapers ever-so-slightly from its rounded heel to its tauter rim. The bowl houses a considerable amount of chamber within its slender frame, ensuring plenty of leisurely smoking sessions. The shank-and-stem arrangement subtly tapers from the transition to the bit, slenderizing the aft side of the composition just a touch and placing more emphasis on the bowl. A rustic sandblast dresses the stummel and accentuates the natural grain orientation of the briar, highlighting an impressive mixture of birdseye and cross grain about the bowl. A band of Ivorite adorns the junction and provides a dose of creamy warmth to the pipe's color palette.--Davin Hylton
