Sergey Dyomin: Sandblasted Chubby Rhodesian
Product Number: 002-662-0008
I have often invoked this passage from Scottish poet Arthur Johnston (1579-1641) to explain my fondness for portly things (people, pets, or objects) or to justify my own love for good food and drink and the inevitable toll this love has taken on my physique. But I think it applies equally to pipes. There's something about a chubby Rhodesian that makes me smile, and this piece from Sergey Dyomin is a chubby Rhodesian par excellence. While the shape of the bowl is fairly traditional and generous of chamber, the shank is much more compact than the typical Rhodesian. The stummel measures under three inches. The blast, again, is just lovely with loads of ring grain around the bowl and plenty of birdseye adorning the cap. This is another charmingly rotund piece from Dyomin. Let me have pipes about me that are fat!
