Sergey Dyomin: Sandblasted Freehand
Product Number: 002-662-0019
Two of Sergey's other pipes in this same batch display an obvious "twisted" aesthetic, played out both by the orientation of the bowl, and by a side-to-side flow that stretches through the full length of the pipes' designs, as viewed from above or below. This one is different, and a little less obvious. The bowl is very asymmetrical, while the shank and stem are not (there's just a little asymmetry to the stem's base, but that's it), something which rather nudges one's attention up front. That's where attention belongs, I suspect, because that's where this pipe has what Adam called an "M.C. Escher effect." The bowl is paneled you see, but only once — as in one, single panel makes up the forward and rear faces, and both the flanks... and the rim and underside.
