Starkov: Smooth Bell Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-650-0008
This Starkov "Bell" design is an interesting one, gentle and very subtle of flow, slightly organic of bowl (it's hard not to be, I suppose, when the bowl falls into the Acorn-like family), and with a fine architectural style to the shank, both in terms of being "finely executed" and "fine of proportions." Overall there's just a really wonderful balance here between a certain assertive lift from shank through bowl, and a sense of the delicate in the slender progression of the shank and the barely-there S-curve that runs from transition to bit. I suspect what helps make that balance play out so well is, in fact, what goes on as one comes closer to the bit, with the half-saddle stem showing a certain tautness that complements the lines and posture found up front. The result is a profile that goes lift, flow, taut, while transitioning most naturally from one to the next.
