Steve Liskey: Sandblasted Bent Dublin with Bamboo
Product Number: 002-713-0004
Jaunty, yet balanced. Rakish, yet fluid. Firm, yet playful. As contradictory as all that sounds, it's exactly the line that Steve Liskey walks when executing his signature aesthetic — incorporating Japanese asymmetry and naturalism into a traditional Danish classic. Case in point: this bent Dublin. The firm lines and taper of the bowl are paralleled in the hard bend of the bamboo shank, almost elbow like in its degree of upward lift. Yet all the while, Steve manages to maintain a balanced and classical rhythm to the piece, ensuring equal spacing between shank, knuckles, and stem base. The result is a unique profile unlike anything we've really ever seen — an intriguing balance of styles and schools that simply works to create a beautiful as well as unusual composition.
