Steve Liskey: Sandblasted Volcano with Bamboo

Product Number: 002-713-0046

While the traditional Volcano is a towering, strongly-tapered shape, Steve Liskey takes a more Danish classical approach, giving it a bit of softness all around. Indeed, with a slight forward cant and a domed base, this take on the shape feels quite elegant, its taper further softened by a gentle waistline and low-slung shaping. It's accented by two knuckles of tidy bamboo, highlighting the warmth of the sandblasts's stain, and offering a hint of additional organicism to the already quite elegant shape, and neatly wraps up the piece into a coherent whole. The result is some of Liskey's finer work, and one that shows off his fondness for a hint of Japanese influence.
