Tine Balleby: Sandblasted Acorn with Boxwood Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-947-0015
Daughter of pipe artisan Kurt Balleby, Tine Balleby got her start working with her father in his workshop. Influences from her father can be seen throughout much of Tine's portfolio, including impressive finishes and stem work, both of which are featured on this Acorn. Classically Danish in profile, this pipe is sweeping from button to bowl and combines structure with supple curvature. Up front, the walls of the bowl rise from a lifted heel and swell toward a broad rim. While this pipe approaches Nosewarmer proportions, at barely over four and a half inches long, it still houses a respectable tobacco chamber, ensuring you don't sacrifice smoking time with this piece. Cheeking around the transition gives way to an oval shank that begins the aft's bend as it meets a light accent of boxwood at its face. From here, a stylized vulcanite stem completes the aft's arch, bookending the boxwood between the sleek jet-black mouthpiece and ebony sandblasted stummel, which displays healthy growth rings throughout.
