Tsuge Ikebana: Sandblasted Bent Dublin Reverse Calabash (Ohi) (G) (223) (2016) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-623-4543
As complex as some of Yoshirou Ohi's pipes can be, this bent Dublin is one that presents itself fairly simply — though that belies some of the work that went into it. The flaring shank is not just a well-rounded detail, but serves to house a reverse Calabash condensation chamber; the bowl is firm but softly-lined, its walls thick and insulating, despite the rather compact shape overall; and the finish gives an extra hint of organic aesthetic to the piece, bringing out neat stacks of well-defined growth rings around both bowl and shank. Beautiful work, and well-executed.
