Ohi is known for his precise linework, and his reverse Calabash designs as of late have made vivid use of it. This one, however, is particularly interesting — and not just because of the shape. While the trumpeting bowl, flattened base, and uplifting shank all make for a stunning bent Dublin with an easy sitting ability, the sandblast is the first thing that stands out. Stacks upon stacks of growth rings surround the entirety of the stummel, each well-defined and neatly arranged. When paired to the shape itself, the result is stunning, giving the shape a sense of additional height, despite being fairly compact and tight-knit overall. Really elegant work.
