Tsuge Ikebana: Sandblasted Long Shank Bent Dublin Sitter Reverse Calabash (Ohi) (H) (024) (2018) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-623-4547
Yoshirou Ohi knows how to make a reverse Calabash. He also knows how to make a sitter. Combine the two, and you get this pleasant shape — a plump-rimmed bent Dublin, long and flared of shank, with a sturdy sitting ability that keeps it upright with very little effort. It doesn't lack anything as far as design, either, maintaining the sleekness of form and complexity of line for which Ohi has become so well-known, particularly in the piece's forward-ebbing disposition. As for the finish, it wears a crisp sandblast, which has brought out some fine organic details as far as gnarled plateau near the rim, as well as stacks upon stacks of growth rings.
