Yeti: Sandblasted Bent Apple (409)
Product Number: 002-660-0080
At first glance, this bent Apple from Micah "Yeti" Cryder is a fairly straightforward, jaunty rendition, with perhaps a more drastic curve to its heel and transition. It is that, to be sure, but upon further examination, we find it's much more as well.
It's not until holding this piece does one notice the subtle, almost imperceptible asymmetry made by a ridge on the right side of the oval shank. It travels only briefly along the shank's flank before dissolving seamlessly into the transition. Also noteworthy is the sandblasted finish: crisp and delicate, it satiates all tactile desires and displays intricate birdseye on the underside and striations of ring grain that fan along the flanks, imitating the curve of the bowl. Accented only by the lightly stained, smooth rim and shank-end, it's an understated piece whose true marvels can only be appreciated in person.- Truett Smith
