Yeti: Smooth Bent Dublin with Bakelite (566) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-660-0118

A pipe that exemplifies a number of Micah "Yeti" Cryder's personal design cues, this bent Dublin pairs robust, compact proportions with a vivid, modern color palette. Cryder's portfolio is saturated with Dublin renditions, and the American artisan often carves those defined by pocket-friendly proportions. One such nosewarmer is offered here, hearty and muscular but barely over four inches in overall length. Thick insulating walls surround the chamber for adequate protection, and the sweeping flame grain around the bowl aligns beautifully with the Dublin's upward flare, terminating in a rim of dark-stained, low-profile plateau for subtle visual texture against the smooth finish. Most striking, however, and most indicative of Micah's style is his use of bakelite. The material is an old medium, often displaying unique, colorful patterns, and has seen a resurgence across artisan pipe making. It's a time-consuming material to work with, and when it comes to bakelite stems, Cryder is one of the most prolific carvers. He's fitted this bent Dublin with one of vibrant, mint green, standing in stark contrast against the stummel's ruby stain and handsomely complemented by an accent of double-layered bakelite — the outer hue exuding an aesthetic similar to ivory, while the core echoes the stem's color.
