Yeti: Smooth Bent Dublin Sitter with Bakelite and Mammoth (755) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-660-0169
Montana native and the man behind Yeti pipes, Micah Cryder became fascinated with pipe making after smoking a pipe for the first time in high school. His passion for the craft became intense and all encompassing, and he eventually quit his barista job and left his university to pursue pipe making full-time. He's now one of America's premier pipe makers, garnering considerable praise for his unique shaping style, handsome finishing work, and stylish use of Bakelite stems. This bent Dublin Sitter is a fine example of Cryder's craftsmanship and technical acumen.
A bold, muscular shape, this piece features a tall bowl that flares from its narrow, flat heel to its broad, inflated rim. The heel enables the entire composition to sit sturdily without the aid of a pipe stand, no small feat considering the rest of the shape's robust build. A single ridgeline wraps around the top of the bowl and accentuates the rim's raised fore, rounded contours, and flecks of plateau. The rim's forward ebb and the heel's subtle lift work in concert to lend the bowl a dynamic posture in profile.
Out back, the shank tapers from the low-set transition and marries a demurely curved saddle stem of forest-green Bakeline. The junction between shank and stem is accented with a band of mammoth that nicely complements the natural stummel's warm honey-blonde finish. Said finish highlights fine licks of flame grain that follow the bowl's upward expansion to a rim dotted with birdseye.
