Yeti: Sandblasted Natural Acorn with Bakelite and Mammoth (786) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-660-0177
After smoking his first pipe at the age of 17, Micah "Yeti" Cryder became fascinated with the art and craft of pipe making, eventually transitioning to fashion pipes full time. Cryder is now a talented, well-respected carver, with an affinity for crafting compact, muscular shapes. His work often showcases a clear Danish influence and a penchant for organic shaping, as evidenced by this bent Acorn. The bowl of this piece features a broad, plateau-crowned rim and a gentle taper to the subtly lifted heel. The bowl's distinctive, rotund form is balanced in profile by the flared shank that extends from the low-slung, softly cheeked transition. The shank broadens lightly along its length to a wide, disk-like face before giving way to a saddle stem of stunning red and white Bakelite. The thick, bold proportions of the bowl offer a considerable presence in hand.
The stummel wears a handsome, craggy tanblast that coaxes out myriad waves of rippling growth rings across all sides of the bowl and provides plenty of stimulating texture to delight the fingers. The distinctive, sheer quality of the sandblast deftly complements the organic shaping of the pipe and the rugged plateau around the rim. A warm accent of mammoth marks the junction, lending a light, vibrant note to the shadowy complexion of the pipe, further lightening the presence of the stummel while magnifying the presence of the stem. Aesthetically rich and beautifully rendered, this piece offers plenty of vibrant charm in a sophisticated form.
