Yeti: Sandblasted Dublin with Bakelite (871) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-660-0197

Montana-based artisan Micah Cryder started carving pipes at 17 years-old while still in high school. Cryder learned the ins-and-outs of pipe making by surfing internet forums, and got some additional help from American pipe making legend Premal Chheda. Soon, he founded his own workshop: Yeti. The supernatural name is inspired in part by the great outdoors and adding a dash of whimsicality to the art of pipe making. Pipes from Yeti typically showcase classic Danish design cues like gestural profiles and supple shaping, while incorporating an individualistic artistic perspective like many other American pipe makers.

This Dublin by Yeti possesses an eye-catching bowl that dominates the composition. The walls dramatically flare from a bulb-like heel to a broad, asymmetric rim that showcases a rugged stretch of plateau. Out back, the superbly slim shank and tidy saddle stem call to mind the sleek Lovat shape, as their trim disposition keeps one's focus centered on the bowl. Furthermore, the bowl is dressed in a jet-black sandblast, highlighting a lovely array of concentric growth rings wrapping around the bowl, which also provide a bevy of tactile intrigue. Additionally, the inky tones of the stummel are complemented by the coffee-colored Bakelite stem, which adds a flourish of color to the dark palette.
